Hi! My name is Zubaida Esperança from Mozambique. I am Environmental Engineering, and I am assistant lecture at faculty of Engineering in Eduardo Mondlane University.
I am interested in this course to enhance my career with new knowledge on nature finance and apply the results in Mozambique.
I am motivated to enroll in this course because in Mozambique we have a very limited local understanding of key nature finance principles and how to apply them on the ground.

Hi everyone, nice to e-meet you all ! I am Zeineb joinging from Tunisia. I am an agriculture ingeneer and I have a masters and PhD in oceanogarphy (wich includes coastal and water sciences) from Canada. I have multiple experience in environmental science within think tanks and international orginizations in Canada and some in the US. My most recent experience is working within a UN agency based in Canada (UNU-INWEH), where I published a flagship report on bottled water. That was some on the reasons why I appreciate the link between Nature and Finance, wich explains my interest in this course. Currently I am an independent research/environmental consultant in Tunisia, with a focus on marine sciences and freshwater systems.

My name is Andres, and I come from Ecuador, South America, where I co-founded Fundación Great Leaf, a local NGO dedicated to environmental protection. As the Financial Director, I oversee the financial sustainability of the organization, managing budgets, funding strategies, and resource allocation to support our mission of safeguarding tropical forests. Driven by a deep desire to leave a meaningful legacy for future generations, I am excited about this course as an opportunity to connect with environmental leaders, other NGOs and deepen my understanding of Finance for Nature. Over the next weeks, I aim to learn, collaborate, and amplify the impact of our conservation efforts.

Hi into the group, nice to e-meet you all!
My name is Claudia, Austrian, lived for the past 20 years in Germany and currently taking an educational year whilst living in Barcelona, Spain. I have a business background (Diploma Intl. Tourism; MBA) and worked in various functions (Marketing, Inhouse Consulting, HR, Sustainability) in the corporate life science industry. After a very enjoyable and inspiring year working for NGOs in Kenya and Ecuador on conservation projects, I decided to devote my next 25+ in the space connecting business, sustainability and nature conservation.
I decided to take a deep dive certificate in nature finance after having done the nature-positive economy education at the Geneva Graduate School, which was a very enriching programme. I look forward to be further equipped with nature reinvestment strategies in particularly developing business models with and for the private sector so that both benefit from business and nature growth.
In my free time I love to play outdoors (beach-volleyball, running, hiking, skating, surfing), explore new places and spend quality time with family and friends.
Really look forward to meeting you all, and having a great learning experience:)
Warm Regards,
Claudia

Hi everyone,
Apologies for being a bit late to the party! My name is Hlek, and I’m from Thailand. I currently lead the sustainability efforts at the Mae Fah Luang Foundation. We work with incredible communities of ethnic minorities in the mountainous north of Thailand, helping them find sustainable ways to thrive.
One of our initiatives is a shade-grown Arabica coffee project, which provides a wonderful source of income for the local people. We also support other nature-based livelihoods, as we believe in working with the environment, not against it.
I’m really hoping this course will open my eyes to new financial models that can help both the people and the planet flourish.
It’s lovely to meet you all!
Hlek

Hi, my name is Lisa Freercks. I am based in South Africa where I work for the Sustainable Finance Coalition. My role there is to lead the incubation of new finance solutions for conservation. I have a technical background in corporate finance and more recently in impact investing. I am passionate about seeing more finance flow to social and environmentally-positive projects and would love to use this course to gain more knowledge on the different financial instruments being piloted and contemplated to advance this work (challenges, case studies, considerations) as well to expand my network in the sector. In my free time, I love exploring nature and new places with my family.
