AssignmentGroup Assignment: NbS Self-assessment
Deadline18 March 2024

Description of the assignment

The purpose of the group assignment is to assess a project with the IUCN Global Standard self-assessment tool and demonstrate the logic behind it.

This task is designed to apply the knowledge gained in each module, fostering collaboration and diversified perspectives among participants.

Assignment Instructions

Please follow the instructions below while working with your group:

  • Craft a compelling concise PowerPoint presentation using the template of a duration of 10 minutes.
  • While all participants are obliged to contribute to the group work, not all group members are obliged to present, and it is up to you to allocate talking points as you see fit for an optimal outcome.
  • Please upload your PowerPoint slide deck with IUCN Academy the day before your presentation at the latest (only one of the group members has to upload it).

Tips for success:

  1. Start the exercise with a quick and rough assessment against all the criteria and indicators to identify the indicators where this initial rating is contested. Discuss and decide on the final rating together. Fill out the self-assessment tool (excel), providing a clear rationale and means of verification, and highlighting any potential gaps.
  2. Start working with your group right at the start of the course, as to have more time to reflect and improve your assignment as the course proceeds.

Evaluation criteria

Your final report will be assessed against the following criteria:

  • Adequate justifications and rationale for the scoring have been provided.
  • Relevant means of verification to assess the indicators and criteria have been listed.
  • Overall recommendations followed logically from the self-assessment.
  • Evidence that a critical and nuanced discussion on the use of resources and tools has taken place.
  • Delivery of a clear and effective presentation of the group work.
  • Evidence that each group member contributed equally to the self-assessment and is able to explain the process and results.
  • The assignment is submitted before the deadline.

Result: Pass / Fail
