We are hiring a Temporary Programme Officer to cover for a maternity leave over the period 1 December 2022 to 15 May 2023, position would be based at IUCN HQ in Gland, Switzerland, but remote work is also possible. TERMS OF REFERENCE

Title:                           Temporary Programme Officer, IUCN Academy

Work percentage:     100%

Period: 1 December 2022 to 15 May 2023

Duty station:              IUCN Headquarters, Gland, Switzerland

Reporting to:             Director, IUCN Academy

BACKGROUND

The IUCN Academy provides best-in-class learning experience for internal and external clients, utilising a broad and creative range of pedagogical methods. IUCN holds a great wealth of theoretical and practical knowledge on how society should sustainably use natural resources and biodiversity. The IUCN Academy will leverage this expertise to train individuals (professionals and postgraduate students alike) with the knowledge and skills to drive the green transition our societies are calling for.

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION

The main objective of the position is to support the IUCN Academy in the development and implementation of its portfolio of programmes.
 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support IUCN Centres and Regional Offices in the development and delivery of training and capacity building projects
  • Develop training components on the IUCN Academy learning platform and advise on format to maximise impact of the training
  • Support the evaluation of capacity building projects
  • Participate in the identification of relevant IUCN expertise for programme design and delivery
  • Participate in the development of IUCN Academy portfolio of activities with partner universities

PROFILE AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree, preferably in a field related to environmental sustainability and/or nature conservation
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the education sector
  • Demonstrated experience in project management
  • Experience in adult learning and e-learning, including use of LMS
  • Demonstrated interest in nature conservation and the broader topic of environmental sustainability
  • Capacity to analyse and synthesise information
  • Well organised and autonomous professional
  • At ease in multicultural contexts, very good communication skills, sense of diplomacy and willingness to be part of a team
  • Excellent English written and oral communication and working knowledge of French, and Spanish an asset
