Stories of Success: Joanne Li

Meet Joanne Li, who designs and implements sustainable solutions in Hong Kong and beyond. She puts into practice skills gained during the Professional Certificate on the IUCN Global Standard on Nature-based Solutions™ to achieve results and work on collaborative initiatives.

The NbS course has significantly enhanced Joanne's work at WWF-Hong Kong. She has acquired essential skills in integrating NbS into her work, assessing and designing NbS initiatives, and supporting conservation efforts in Hong Kong and the region.

One of Joanne’s main roles involves, promoting NbS in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). Building upon the knowledge gained from the course, she has actively contributed to the co-development of the GBA NbS information pack, organizing workshops, and providing ongoing support for NbS initiatives. Additionally, she has also been involved in a collaborative visionary study between ARUP and WWF-Hong Kong in applying NbS in a rural township in Hong Kong.

Ultimately, Joanne aspires to become an NbS professional within WWF and the region, with a focus on improving the planning, design, and management of projects that benefit both people and nature.

Joanne is grateful for the opportunity to participate in the NbS course and is confident that the skills acquired will have a positive impact on her work at WWF-Hong Kong.
