Nature-based Solutions Programme Officer, IUCN School

Dorsa holds a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Tehran, Iran. Her thesis focused on water resources management with an angle on conflict resolution. After finishing her Master’s studies, she continued her research for six months as a graduate research assistant, working on water reuse systems for small communities. She also holds a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Water Governance from the University of Geneva, where she worked on climatic and anthropogenic effects on natural resources.
She worked for six years as an Environmental Engineer in Iran, working on watershed management, water quality monitoring and trend analysis. In addition to technical aspects, she was also responsible for technical coordination and in close collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders from public and private sector. After moving to Switzerland, she started working with the IUCN Global Ecosystem Programme, where her responsibilities included the coordination and technical support of IUCN Global Standard on Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and its pilot projects, coordination of ongoing NbS activities and strategic research and knowledge generation. She then joined the Secretariat of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, where she was responsible for the designation and protection of Ramsar Sites, grant management, project implementation and support o the Contracting Parties in Asia and Oceania Region. In May 2022, She resumed her engagement with IUCN as the Nature-based Solutions Programme Office.
